Special Needs

The Learning Center at ISN is designed to provide pupils aged six to eighteen with specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, a mild form of Dyspraxia, ADHD or those who require support with organisational and study skills, with the aim of helping them cope in the classroom environment. Pupils are given individualised lessons which cater for their particular needs. Lessons can take the form of a cumulative, structured, multi-sensory phonics program to aid with literacy skills for Dyslexic students or a similar structured programme for Primary Maths. There is also a study skills program available; essay planning & writing, organisational skills, note-taking, mind mapping, dictionary skills, revision & examination techniques, handwriting, reading, spelling and developing better concentration. Students are given an Individual Education Plan (IEP) twice a year, outlining their specific needs and work to be covered that semester. Copies of this are given to parents and teachers.
