FAQ

We follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for the Primary School, an international curriculum created by our teachers, drawing upon best practices from around the world, for the Middle School, followed by an IGCSE curriculum as IBDP preparation in Grades 9 and 10, and finally the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for Grades 11 and 12.

English is the language of instruction at ISN; however, all students learn French and have five French sessions per week according to their own level (Beginner, Advanced Intermediate or Francophone).

For students in Primary School (4 to 10 years old), the answer is NO. They will have English support (EAL), which is organized in the curriculum.

For students in Middle School (11 to 13 years old), the answer is NO. As part of the admission process, your child will sit for an English test to determine his/her English level. According to the result, we will place him/her in the right English group and he/she may have additional English support, which is provided in the curriculum. 

For High School Students (14 to 17 years old), a good level of English is compulsory, as they have to be proficient enough in English to follow the High School Curriculum. As part of the admission process, your child will sit for an entry test.

We follow the American system in labeling our class levels. We start at Pre-Kindergarten level to Grade 12. For instance:  Grade 1 at ISN/US system = Year 2 in UK = CP in the French system.

As part of the current ISN curriculum, we offer these two languages. However, ISN may provide 17 different languages via private tuition outside of the normal school hours.

Including second nationalities, we have 65 different countries represented at ISN Nice.

ISN alumni have gone on to pursue their higher education studies at top colleges and universities all over the world. The ISN College Counselors have many years of experience in working closely with the students and their parents to ensure a good match of university choices and to help them throughout the application process.

All students have class from Monday to Friday (including Wednesday).

• • Primary school : 8:30 am to 3:50 pm
  • Middle and High Schools: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Yes, when necessary. Admission is on a first come, first served basis. We maintain a maximum of 22/23 children per class.

ISN does not offer any financial aid.

The application fee is a non-refundable payment that covers the administrative costs of the application process.

Yes, ISN offers additional help for special learning needs.

The Learning Center* at ISN is designed to provide help for pupils with specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, a minor form of Dyspraxia and ADHD or other needs involving organizational and study skills, with support to help them cope in the classroom environment.

                Canteen: ISN provides a lunch service every day. Students have the choice of different entrees, cheese/yoghurt and dessert, and one main course.

                 Transportation: ISN provides bus services (6 lines) throughout the Alpes –Maritimes. Please check the list of the bus stops here.

                Music: your child may have the choice of practicing a musical instrument or take voice lessons via private tuition.

Our students may also sit for official Music Exams of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

                After School Activities: every Monday and Thursday from 3:40 to 5:15 pm, there is a range of activities offered at ISN. Ex: climbing, golf, soccer, tennis, chess club, art club, etc. Registration is done by semester.

    • Speech competition: we also prepare our students for a speech contest involving other Anglophone schools on the Riviera.

Yes, there is a uniform for all students from Young Explorers to Grade 10.  The uniform can be ordered from the school supplier. More information is available on the uniform page of the website.
