Alumni Interview: Lea Nespolo on Her Journey Beyond ISN
Michelle Van Buuren

We had the pleasure of interviewing Lea Nespolo, a 2021 graduate of ISN, to learn about her career journey and how ISN helped shape her path. In this interview, she shares her experiences and advice for current students.

What have been the highlights of your career journey since graduating from ISN?

One of the biggest highlights for me has been creating my own micro-enterprise while continuing my studies. It’s been challenging but incredibly rewarding to balance both academic and entrepreneurial pursuits.

How did your experience at ISN shape your career path and contribute to your current success?

ISN played a significant role in shaping my professional journey. The open-mindedness I developed there helped me evolve in different fields, and I made lasting connections with people from all over the world. One of the key experiences that helped me was my involvement in theater during my time at ISN. It gave me real presence and confidence, which has been invaluable in my career. Whether I’m speaking to an audience or working with clients, those skills have helped me prepare for the professional world.

Can you tell us more about your current job and what it entails?

I’m currently managing communication for several companies on the French Riviera, all while continuing my studies in communication and marketing at ISCOM. My studies are specialised in communication, so I get to apply what I’m learning directly to my work.

Have you encountered any notable opportunities or gained valuable experiences since leaving ISN?

Absolutely. One of the biggest learning curves has been adapting to the university environment. It wasn’t easy at first to find a university that aligned with my values and what I wanted to achieve. In fact, I changed universities before finding ISCOM, which was a much better fit for me. This experience taught me a lot about perseverance and staying true to myself.

What advice would you give current ISN students to help them build a successful career?

My advice would be to take your time finding a university that matches your values and goals. ISN helps build a strong foundation, but the journey after school is just as important. For me, the hardest part was finding a university where I could thrive. Don’t be afraid to make changes if things aren’t working out, and trust that the skills you’ve developed at ISN will guide you.

Thank you, Lea, for sharing your story with us!
