Eco Weeks 2025: Inspiring Action for Our Planet
Mélanie Laroche

This year, Eco Week at ISN turned into an inspiring two-week celebration, as the campus buzzed with energy, creativity, and purpose. Eco Weeks 2025 placed a spotlight on water conservation and ocean protection, engaging students of all ages in meaningful activities that not only raised awareness but empowered them to become environmental changemakers.

Throughout these two weeks, ISN was proud to welcome special guests from the Mairie de Nice, including Deputy Mayor Richard Chemla. Their visit highlighted the importance of our environmental mission and they were deeply impressed by our students’ commitment and the wide range of sustainability initiatives already thriving on campus.

From Primary to High School, students participated in a variety of hands-on, thought-provoking activities:

  • Water Superhero Posters & Letters to the Ocean
Primary and Middle School students expressed their commitment to ocean conservation through creative artwork and heartfelt letters, showcasing their growing awareness and imagination.

  • H2Eau Exhibition
On loan from the Maison de l’Environnement, this interactive exhibition was presented by our Grade 9 students. They guided their peers, parents, and teachers through an educational journey into the importance of water and marine ecosystems.

  • Workshops in the Marine Learning Hub
Primary and Middle School students dove into topics like marine biodiversity, plankton, and the impact of microplastics through dynamic, hands-on workshops. Grade 6 even experienced a virtual dive into the Mediterranean Sea thanks to Naturdive.

  • WWF Wild Wisdom Quiz
Primary students put their environmental knowledge to the test in a fun and educational competition, learning more about global challenges in a playful setting.

  • Greenhouse Project & Sens Solidaire Collaboration
Grade 6 students constructed a greenhouse in the school garden, linking classroom learning with real-world sustainability. They also exchanged letters with students in Kenya, sharing ideas about local plants and sustainable practices.

The two weeks culminated in a joyful and impactful Eco Fête, where:

  • Primary students created postcards from recycled paper,

  • Middle School students competed in a lively sponge relay, and

  • High School students took part in a thought-provoking sustainability challenge.

The celebration ended on a powerful note, as the entire ISN community gathered to form a giant human water drop—captured from above by drone—a breathtaking symbol of our collective responsibility to protect the planet.

We are proud to have earned the Engaged for Ocean label and to continue our work as a European Blue School. These Eco Weeks reaffirmed our belief that education is not only about gaining knowledge—it’s about taking action.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible students, teachers, and partners for making these two weeks a resounding success.

Together, we are shaping a generation of environmentally conscious leaders, ready to make a difference.
