Visual Arts Private Viewing
Nalinka Kalder
On Tuesday 28th of March our group of talented Grade 12 artists celebrated the private viewing of their long awaited Visual Arts exhibition. This is always a highlight of our school year and showcases 40% of their final grade. The other components include a comparative study, which is a research investigation making up 20%, and the Process Portfolio, which is a digital version of the art journal making up the final 40% of the grade.
Tuesday's event saw painters, digital artists, sculptors and jewellery makers exhibiting alongside each other. Each student's work was unique and highlighted the nature of the Visual Arts course to encourage creativity and art making practices in a range of media.
“The Visual Arts course was a real artistic journey from day one back in Grade 11 all the way to the exhibition vernissage last week. I believe it allowed me to develop my skills in drawing, painting and sculpture.
What I found most interesting about this process was to observe how every one of my classmates created their own unique show, conveying a part of themselves through their use of media and composition.
Overall, I think this exhibition was a great success and that the Visual Arts students can be proud of their achievements”. Charlotte, IB student.
“The Visual Arts Course has allowed us all to express our creativity in a way that goes beyond the classroom and has resulted in a fantastic exhibition from each of us. It has been extremely inspiring to learn from one another and have the chance to experiment across a range of different mediums. The exhibition certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone in ways I could never have imagined, I would not have it any other way.” Garance
We would like to congratulate our grade 12 Visual Artists of the class of 2023 for their hard work and motivation throughout the IB programme. The Creative Arts team would like to wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.
