On a sunny Saturday morning, ISN families gathered for the Beach Clean-Up events, with students, parents, and staff joining forces at two stunning locations: Nice's iconic "I Love Nice" sign on the promenade and Beaulieu-sur-Mer's Plage Petite Afrique. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as they set out to make a difference in the community by cleaning the beautiful Mediterranean coastline.
From early morning until midday, participants worked diligently, removing debris from the beaches, ranging from plastic bottles and cigarette butts to forgotten fishing gear. Their efforts were a testament to the power of teamwork and a vivid reminder of the environmental responsibility they share as a community.
Among the participants, our very own Mey, along with her family, joined in the efforts. Mey participated in the IB CAS Beach Clean-Up at Beaulieu-sur-Mer's Plage Petite Afrique, while her family participated in the Beach Clean-Up at the "I Love Nice" sign on the promenade.
Reflecting on the day, Mey shared: "My family and I were thrilled to be part of this amazing opportunity. Taking part as a family allowed us to contribute together, aiming to make a positive environmental impact in our community. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our environment, one beach at a time."
Both clean-up sites were filled with lively conversation and collaboration and demonstrated the strong sense of community that ISN fosters. The initiative also aligned perfectly with ISN’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, exemplified by the school’s recent recognition with the "Engaged for Ocean" label at the 2024 Nice Climate Summit.
The Beach Clean-Up was not only an opportunity to clean up our local beaches but also to learn more about marine pollution and the vital role we all play in protecting our seas. It was inspiring to see families and students so dedicated to this cause, leaving everyone feeling empowered to continue these efforts in their daily lives.
Thank you to all who participated and contributed to this successful event. Together, we continue to make a difference, one small step at a time, and one beach at a time.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our next community event!
