Duke of Edinburgh International Award Practise Adventure

Five ISN students recently embarked on an exciting two-day practise journey as part of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award program.  The journey tested their determination and fostered invaluable skills and personal growth.

The adventure began with a sense of excitement as the group of students, Brando and Hanrui in Grade 9, along with Eddie, Sergei, and Alex in Grade 10, set out on a two-day journey filled with challenges and unforgettable memories. Their destination was the beautiful region stretching from Castellar to Gorbio.

On the first day, they started their journey with a hike from Castellar to Gorbio. The landscape around them was beautiful, and it didn't take long for them to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the region.

After a day filled with exploration and adventure, the students settled in for an unforgettable night of camping. The shared experience of camping under the stars created a bond among the group, fostering camaraderie and a sense of togetherness that would prove to be invaluable in the days to come.

The second day brought a new set of challenges. The students embarked on a circular route that included a steep ascent around the picturesque hills near Gorbio. This challenging journey not only pushed their physical limits but also encouraged them to develop critical outdoor skills.

What truly made this experience remarkable was the way our students rose to the challenge. As the journey tested their physical endurance and navigational skills, it also pushed them to work together as a team. The group's exemplary teamwork, respect for one another, and their keen ability to follow instructions stood out throughout the expedition. They tackled the challenges with enthusiasm, showing resilience and determination.

Apart from the outdoor skills acquired, the Duke of Edinburgh Adventure Journey instilled a profound appreciation for the great outdoors in our students. It taught them the value of resilience, teamwork, and facing challenges head-on. This unique experience encouraged their personal growth, helping them become more confident, capable, and appreciative of nature's wonders.

“We would like to express our heartfelt commendation for all the participants in the Duke of Edinburgh practice Adventurous Journey. Your performance was nothing short of exceptional. Your respect for each other, your instructors, and the environment, along with your outstanding teamwork, navigation, and preparedness, demonstrated your commitment to the program,” Ms McMullan and Ms Marple.

We can't wait to see what new adventures and challenges await these young adventurers in the future.
