Grade 11 Canyoning Adventure!

Grade 11 Canyoning Adventure!
Joanna Marple and Michelle van Buuren

On Friday, September 5th, our Grade 11 students swapped the classroom for the mountains with an unforgettable canyoning adventure!

The aim of the class trip was threefold. Firstly, with a large number of new students, and being at the beginning of a rigorous two years of study, it was a great opportunity to bond and collaborate as a group, setting the groundwork for strong mutual support within this cohort for the coming months. Secondly, this non-school setting provides a great opportunity for teachers of the IB Core (TOK, CAS and Extended Essay) as well as the HSDS Impact project to gather in small informal groups to consolidate the understanding of these disciplines. Thirdly, we aim for fun! Every student who went canyoning asked if we could do more trips like this in the future.

"The TOK, EE, and CAS workshops were actually super helpful, and we left feeling excited (and a little less stressed!) about the IB journey ahead of us. The canyoning trip was also such a blast and my class loved every minute of it and it made us feel way more connected." - Nikita, Grade 11

We look forward to hearing about all the other residential trips taking place at ISN this year!
