ISN Joins "Jogging Rose" to Support Cancer Awareness
Elizabeth and Carolina Hernandez

On Sunday, 29th September, ISN proudly participated in the "Jogging Rose," an event organised by SOS Cancer du Sein in collaboration with Mrs Barbara Prot, Municipal Councillor and Deputy for Health Prevention and Education at the City of Nice.

The event was part of a broader initiative to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, while promoting the importance of physical health and well-being, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being.

"What an unforgettable experience at the Jogging Rose! For the second year, I had the privilege of joining colleagues and students for this vital cause. It was truly inspiring to witness 3,000 people come together along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, united in raising awareness and supporting the fight against breast cancer. The energy and collective purpose were remarkable." - Carolina Hernandez, ISN Teacher

“This weekend, our family of three, along with our colleagues at the International School of Nice community, had the privilege of participating in the “ Jogging Rose” to raise awareness for breast cancer. It was a meaningful experience for us all, reminding us of the importance of supporting this cause. We felt the strength of the community, coming together to honour those affected and contribute to the fight against breast cancer. The event was filled with energy and purpose, as we ran alongside families, friends, and survivors, all united by this important cause. Covering the 7km route together, we felt proud to be part of a global effort to support research and raise awareness.   It was a humbling experience to see so many people come together in solidarity, reminding us of the strength of community in the fight against breast cancer.“ - The Bhowmik family, ISN Teachers and Student

The event also reinforced ISN's commitment to holistic education, linked to SDG 4: Quality Education. By taking part, ISN empowered its students to engage with real-world issues that extend beyond the classroom, encouraging a deep understanding of gender equality (SDG 5) and the importance of addressing women’s health concerns globally. Breast cancer predominantly affects women, yet men are not immune—though rare, male breast cancer accounts for less than 1% of cases, highlighting the importance of inclusive awareness.

Moreover, ISN’s participation in the "Jogging Rose" illustrated the strength of partnerships (SDG 17). Through collaboration with organisations like SOS Cancer du Sein and local leaders, ISN fosters community involvement and social responsibility, contributing to meaningful change both locally and globally.

Initiatives like the "Jogging Rose" reflect ISN’s ongoing dedication to social and environmental causes and inspires students to take an active role in creating a healthier, more equitable world. ISN looks forward to continuing its efforts in cancer prevention and awareness, empowering the next generation to make a lasting impact.
