ISN Receives Gold Eco-School Award
Melanie Laroche and Michelle van Buuren
We are proud to announce that, for the third consecutive year, we have been recognised as an Eco-School, and this year we achieved the distinguished GOLD award for our outstanding environmental initiatives. This year, we worked on the theme of "Energy," a topic chosen by only 5% of participating schools in France.
Throughout the year, our students and staff engaged in several impactful projects to earn this award, including the ERASMUS low carbon project, the Ambassadors of Tomorrow project, the creation of a new garden, the Junk Kouture initiative, and numerous Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) projects across both Primary and Secondary classes. Our Eco Week was a particular highlight, showcasing our commitment to sustainability.
Out of 797 schools in France, only 170 received the Gold award, and we are honoured to be among them. The Eco-School committee highlighted our structured approach, continuous improvement, and increasing student involvement as key factors in our success.
Melanie Laroche, our Eco School and Sustainability Coordinator, expresses her congratulations, noting the significant efforts and dedication of ALL involved. “The Eco-School program praised our project’s alignment with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing its lasting positive impact on both our school and the broader community,” she said.
Looking ahead, our theme for next year will be "Water." As part of this project, we plan to create an Ocean Room and participate in the Nice Climate Summit. We are excited about these new initiatives and look forward to the continued involvement and dedication of our students and staff.
Thank you to all the teachers and students for your hard work, enthusiasm, and support in making our school a leader in environmental sustainability. We look forward to continuing our journey as an eco-friendly school.
