We are proud to announce that ISN’s Junk Kouture team — Isabela, Julia, and Erik in Grade 11 — have been selected as finalists for the Junk Kouture 2025 Paris City Finals with their striking design Amphitrite.

Junk Kouture is a global fashion competition that challenges students aged 14 to 18 to design and construct high-fashion outfits made entirely from recycled materials. It is a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and innovation — three values that align closely with ISN’s educational ethos.

The ISN team's piece, Amphitrite, was inspired by jellyfish and created to raise awareness of the dangers plastic pollution poses to marine life, particularly sea turtles. From constructing a detailed paper maché corset to dyeing and sewing recycled fabrics for the skirt, the process required weeks of experimentation, collaboration, and problem-solving. The final result is a powerful example of wearable art with a purpose.

Working closely with the school’s Directrice, Mel Curtis, the students combined their artistic vision with a clear environmental message, showcasing what young people can achieve when creativity meets cause.

We look forward to supporting them on the road to the Paris finals!
