Parents Join the PYP Learning Journey: Watch Me Learn in Action
Clare Moor and Michelle van Buuren

It was wonderful to see so many parents join us for our regular Primary School Watch Me Learn session. These sessions are a special part of life at ISN, giving families the chance to see first-hand what their children are learning through the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), take part in classroom activities, and even get a little hands-on themselves. It’s a chance for parents to step into their child’s world, witness the excitement of learning, and see the skills, creativity, and confidence that are being nurtured every day. Many topics have already been covered such as maths; phonics; reading, writing and STEAM.

The morning began with a lively introduction in the canteen, where parents were welcomed and given an overview of the session. From there, everyone headed into the classrooms to experience lessons alongside their children. This session focused on the Unit of Inquiry, and it was fantastic to watch students confidently lead their learning, share their ideas, and guide their parents through their discoveries. The curiosity, enthusiasm, and pride on display were truly inspiring - a reminder of just how much our young learners achieve when they are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and take ownership of their learning.

Henry from Grade 1 reflected, “I really enjoy my mum coming into school to enjoy my learning with me.”

A Grade 4 parent commented, “The sessions are really interesting and also help us to understand how to help our children correctly with their homework.”

A huge thank you goes to all the parents who came along - your support, engagement, and interest make such a difference, not only to your child’s experience but to our school community as a whole. It was wonderful to see parents engaging, asking questions, and celebrating their child’s learning journey. And of course, a massive well done to our staff, whose creativity, dedication, and hard work made the sessions such a success. Their passion and commitment ensure that each child’s learning experience is rich, inspiring, and full of opportunity.

“The Watch Me Learn sessions are always a well attended event by our parents. It is lovely to see they have a genuine interest in their learning and how they can then support them at home.” - Clare Moor, Primary Principal

The Watch Me Learn sessions perfectly capture everything we love about the PYP: curiosity, collaboration, creativity, and the pure joy of learning. They provide a window into the classroom, a glimpse of our students’ growth, and a chance to celebrate the learning that happens every day. We can’t wait to welcome more families to future sessions and continue sharing the incredible, inspiring learning taking place across our Primary classrooms.
