At the International School of Nice (ISN Nice), learning extends beyond subject boundaries. As an IB World School serving students aged 3 to 18 on the French Riviera, ISN integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) into a cohesive, inquiry-led framework.

By combining scientific rigor with creative design thinking, our students learn to analyse complex problems, prototype real solutions, and understand the real-world impact of their ideas.

 

The ISN Approach: Integrating Science and the Arts

STEAM at ISN Nice is designed to foster curiosity, sustainability, and technological fluency from Early Years through to graduation:

  • Interdisciplinary Learning: Rather than teaching Science, Maths, and Art in silos, students explore how these disciplines intersect—applying mathematical modelling to design, or using digital tools to express scientific data.

  • Creativity through the Arts: The integration of the Arts ('A') ensures human-centered design, visual communication, and creative expression remain central to technical problem-solving.

  • Sustainability & Global Consciousness: Embedded within our Eco-Schools Gold Award commitments and UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), STEAM projects at ISN encourage students to build solutions for regional and global environmental challenges.

 

Co-Curricular STEAM Initiatives & Global Connections

STEAM learning at ISN expands beyond the classroom through school-wide initiatives and network opportunities:

  • Junk Kouture: High school students apply design engineering, material analysis, and sustainable fashion principles to create wearable art from recycled waste, regularly competing in national and city finals.

  • Eco-Schools Initiatives: Recognised with the Eco-Schools Gold Award for consecutive years, students utilise scientific inquiry to manage on-campus environmental projects.

  • Globeducate Global Events: As part of the global Globeducate group, ISN students participate in international events and challenges focused on science, technology, and global citizenship.
